A major milestone was achieved on June 9, 2025, as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum officially laid the foundation stone for the first Blue Line Metro station. This marks the beginning of a historic project that will transform public transportation in Dubai. The Blue Line Metro station project will officially open to the public on September 9, 2029, aligning with the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Metro. It promises to be one of the most advanced and exciting metro lines in the region.

Major Highlights of Blue Line Metro Station

A major highlight of the Blue Line Metro is the Emaar Properties Station, which will be the world’s tallest metro station at 74 metres. Emaar has secured the naming rights for 10 years. The station is designed by the world-renowned firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), featuring a golden cylindrical structure with luxurious and natural finishes.

The Blue Line Metro station will serve over 40,000 residents and visitors in Dubai Creek Harbour alone. With a total capacity of 160,000 passengers per day, the daily number of users is expected to exceed 70,000 by 2040. The new line will connect nine key districts, making commuting faster and easier.

In addition to its financial returns, the project has been designed with a forward-thinking approach to urban planning and is projected to reduce traffic congestion by 20%, significantly easing travel across several key districts of the city.

The responsibility for bringing this massive vision to life has been entrusted to a joint construction consortium of Turkish and Chinese companies, namely Mapa, Limak, and CRRC.
